Jerry A. Sharrett, 63, of Oblong, Illinois, went to be with his Lord and Savior in his Heavenly home on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at 3:10 p.m. at Deaconess Hospital, Evansville, Indiana.
Born on February 10, 1950, he was the son of Doyle Vincent Sharrett and Ada Kathryn (Berkshire) Sharrett. He was employed at the Hershey Plant, Robinson, IL. retiring as an operator in 2012; employed as a Security Supervisor for APS at the Toyota plant in Princeton, IN. from 1998-2000; served in the U. S. Navy from 1968 to 1972. Jerry was a member of the Hardinville Christian Church; Oblong High School class of 1968; Oblong American Legion Post 219; Eastern Illinois Sportsman Club; NRA ~ National Rifle Association; NWTF ~ National Wild Turkey Foundation; and Whitetails Unlimited. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, camping, auctions, “tinkering” with lawnmowers and anything alse. He especially enjoyed the time he spent with his family.
On May 19, 1978, he married Roberta Kay (Rich) Russell. Jerry is survived by his wife Kay Sharrett; two sons and daughters-in-law, J. D. and Fantasy Sharrett, Oblong, IL; Matt and Jill Russell, Terre Haute, IN.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Anissa and Kevin Williams, Marshall, IL.; Melissa and Michael Stone, Marshall, IL.; and Laura Sharrett and finance’ Levi Staley, Robinson, IL.; ten grandchildren: Ashtin and David Sherrell, Marshall, IL.; Michaela Stone, Marshall, IL.; Alicia Williams and Desmond Williams, Marshall, IL.; Anthony Russell, Oblong, IL.; Marissa Light, Terre Haute, IN.; Nathaniel Ritchey, Terre Haute, IN.; Shyanna Chapman, Oblong; Kaysen Sharrett and Tayden Sharrett, Oblong, IL.; three great-grandchildren: Ava, David, and Lucas Sherrell, all of Marshall, IL.; a sister and brother-in-law, Jan and Carel “Bud” Wise, Forsyth, IL.; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Keegan Williams.
Bro Jeff Brinkman will officiate the funeral service and burial will be in the Oblong Cemetery. Graveside services conducted by Oblong American Legion Post 219.
